Ok, long crazy dream time.
I'm wandering the halls of Mt. Greenwood. It's the end of the day, so we're getting our stuff from our lockers and leaving. Short, little Chad Ramos is nearby, talking in a little squeaky voice. I look up at him and we sort of smile at eachother, then go back to our lockers.
I leave the school and start the walk home down 109th st. He's walking that way, too. It's like everything is different, and we're almost really good friends. Along the way, he held an old lunchbox and handed it to me. Inside was some pieces of paper, and a broken pair of glasses. The items were all mine. I laughed at how I had bought the same exact pair of glasses years down the road(as an adult). (We were still kids at this point)
109th st was all old and forboding. The Mayor has decided to make it a historical landmark and was recreating old 1800's buildings and businesses. To me, they were all dark and scary. Night seemed to hang over them, and the spirits of dead lingered in them.
We end up walking down the alley together. He stops behind Dennis' old house, and I make a note of this. He invites me to come by. There is a kind of church/cult thing going on in the garage. Nicole (josh's ex) is there, participating with Chad's family. I now know why he wasn't in CCD with all the rest of us.
They're chanting and doing little rituals. At one part, they want me to recite a passage, mostly c words, into this recording machine, in the hopes that I might be their new telephone operator. I don't know any passages, so I make up a little rhyming story. Halfway through, the tape runs out, and Chad runs up to the machine to replace it. I finish my story, about a girl at the seashore, becoming one with nature. I step back, holding my little piece of breaded meat. We're supposed to eat a bit of it, then sacrifice the rest. I nibbled my piece while I buried the rest in my mom's frontyard. They wondered where I went with it, but I didn't want them to know I was Pagan. If I told them the Wiccan thing I had done, I thought they might kick me out.
The next part was a ritual, video game like. We had to enter this world, make it across a passage, killing whatever evil laid ahead, and 'zone' out. Nicole was going, as well as Chad. He brought me with. I was worried I would let him down, but when things got hairy, he saved me, and in turn I saved him. Nicole was getting jealous, at my part in their little game, but overall, I was meant to be there. Like the fourth party member they were missing.
Everyone in the church/cult seemed to like me well enough, and little, squeaky Chad was beaming at how well I was doing. I wondered when he would grow back into tall, adult Chad. At the same time, I was supposed to be young me, with the mind of older me.
